Catch+Release Unveils Teams Feature Update for Storytellers
Collaborating Across Full Team Makes Everything Run Smooth
Catch+Release is designed for full team collaboration to find the best content and license in an easy, efficient workflow. Teams comprising creatives, producers, editors and business affairs need access and visibility into how each campaign is progressing. And, of course specific team members need specific access and permissions. This is critical when deadlines loom and the team needs to filter down to the highest quality, on-brief assets they want to use for a paid spot. We just updated how you invite members to the Catch+Release Team inside the platform. And importantly, how you assign roles. Let’s dive in.
Catch+Release Always Had Teams. It just got more flexible and powerful
Catch+Release Collections are at the heart of every campaign. This is the point where everyone views all visual possibilities for that specific campaign. Creatives use this as a great starting point to shape the narrative and story. It’s also an excellent concepting tool. We like to say “seeing is believing”. The real power comes when you share those collections with other team members. This is where the full team reviews all assets in the collection, heart, comment and eventually whittle down to the best gems. Adding to the collection is easy from the Creator Community or from finding an asset on the internet and simply bringing its source.
All team-members invited
When a collection is created, this is the perfect point to invite fellow team members and you then define team roles. Depending on the nature of the campaign, an individual can view numerous collections as part of that team. Then the fun work begins.
C+R Team Roles: Our New Collaborator Role!
Team setup and management is very straight-forward. In minutes you can add all relevant members to a Team in the platform and that Team will then see related Collections. As a Collaborator role, you see only relevant Collections shared with you for a specific campaign by the manager of that team. Also, your C+R customer success manager can set-up quickly to get you started. We’ve expanded and made this much more flexible.
The Collaborator is a new Team role and is best used when you need to invite a third party such as a freelance editor. If you’re part of an agency, you can invite, say, a client to view a collection and with a Collaborator role, they don’t need to share the same domain as the full agency team.
This is powerful as it extends collaboration capabilities and speeds up time to license and of course production.
The table outlines Catch+Release Team types and access:
Everyone is now on a C+R Team
Agency and brand users can now easily collaborate as part of a team when viewing collections. Yes you can sign-up for Catch+Release as a solo user but we regularly see individuals working as part of a broader team.
You can be part of multiple teams at the same time across your organization. In this way, you stay organized and clear on exactly what you are reviewing, creating and licensing, especially if you’re working on multiple projects or campaigns.
Share!
Catch+Release listened to customer feedback and we heard that flexibility and control was key. The new Share button allows you to invite colleagues onto the team by way of a Collection or set of Collections.
You can share a collection with an already established team or of course create a new Team and then invite others to join.
Changing Roles Within Team
Yes! Often a creative director is pulled onto another project and is replaced by a new team-member. The Manager role can quickly adjust and an individual can become a Purchaser, who wasn’t previously when the Team was first created. Individuals cannot assign their role or permission and it has to be maintained by the Manager role.
Already a Catch+Release User & Part of a Team or Collection?
All current users are notified via email so check to see the new Team setup. Everyone who has access to Collections will now become part of a team going forward. You will see a C+R Team invite and a if you are assigned as a Collaborator member, you will see an invite to a Collection

Ads & Curation - Why are they interrelated?
Jim Beam, a beloved whiskey brand, ran a TV ad in May 2024. The spot, aptly named “People are Good” focuses on humans and has little to do with the taste and attributes of the product. Instead it’s focused on the outcomes and yes, the value. In other words, bringing people together to experience life’s precious moments. As a viewer, it pulls you in, tugs at your heart-strings. It’s real and therefore believable.
Creators On La Croisette: Cannes 2024
Thanks to my subscriptions to several industry publications – not to mention the aforementioned friends posting everything they learned on Linkedin in near real-time – I was able to catch up on some knowledge. And it sounds like the Croisette, hotel lobbies and the Gutter Bar were even more crowded this year, because this year there were more social media creators in attendance than ever. And everyone, from Cannes Lions to TikTok, catered to them with special events and announcements that could fundamentally change the way advertising works.
