Content Licensing and Rights Packages Just Got an Upgrade
Catch+Release customers know all too well that delivering campaigns on budget is a critical factor to their overall success. Of course, meeting production deadlines is also critical, and unless teams can satisfy tight timeframes with the best-fit content, campaign success is at risk.
Pick the Best-Fit Content That Meets Budget
When teams collaborate and review content to fit the brief, the specific assets chosen for a campaign have to be cleared for that exact usage. What’s more, usage term lengths can change, especially for successful campaigns, when you need to extend or introduce a new geography or usage type. The Catch+Release product team is always listening to user feedback, and with recent enhancement requests around usage, we’ve rebuilt the content licensing rights packages. These new packages are significantly more flexible and much easier to use, built right inside of the Catch+Release platform user interface.
Select Content Usage A La Carte
With this significant upgrade, rights packages are now split up in a modular fashion. Users can mix and match, choosing specific rights needed for a particular campaign, in an a la carte fashion.
With these new modular-based usages, you can carve out content for only Social organic usage. This is now distinct from Digital or, in other words, paid social usage. Additionally, the Social (non-paid) package includes archival rights, so licensees no longer have an obligation to remove licensed content later on. Teams have peace of mind knowing they’re fully covered for social organic usages and stay safe with the right permission secured.
Outlined below are the flexible, modular-based updated rights packages:
Modular-Based Rights Packages
While Catch+Release has primarily supported advertising use-cases previously, users can now license content for film, television, digital media, and video game productions, which come with appropriate rights in perpetuity. Catch+Release customers can now natively license for any kind of content: films, trailers, television productions, video games, documentaries and PSAs, and editorial and educational content.
Any film and television production would require these new rights, like the FX docu-series “Dear Mama” about Tupac and Afeni Shakur that Catch+Release recently secured content for.

Select Your Audience Size at the Outset
Beyond the specific channels for a particular content usage, we’ve also improved how customers select Audience Size or in other words reach.
We’ve put this decision in the hands of users, and it is accomplished with a few simple steps. This is a huge benefit in helping teams stay on budget. An example may be; All TV purchased across a number of different options from Worldwide, US National, Premium Markets, Large, or Small, and selected based on the breadth of campaign reach.
Selecting Rights Package Audience Size and Territory
Pick Your Territories
Finally, you can now self-select usage based on geographies or territories, and we’ve kept this both flexible and easy to pick from.
In a few simple, swift steps you can now clear and license almost any asset on the Internet with flexible content licensing terms. This step-by-step guide demonstrates that:
- Drop a piece of content you like into a collection, perhaps sourced from our Creator Community.
- Create new usage. Select Advertising, Film/TV, or Digital Media. You can view the full list of rights package options here.
- Select your individual rights packages. The easy flow guides you.
- If you Select All Media, now separate from Print, it will gray out the other options.
- Or, you can individually select from the other options
- Now select audience sizes
- Next, you can input usage details like license start date & term length, starting at 3 months all the way up to multi-year.
You’re set and about to launch an amazing campaign safely, on budget, and with peace of mind.
Speaking of Budget, What About Price Ranges?
It’s probably worth reminding that Catch+Release’s company purpose is to connect, protect, and celebrate the world’s creators - to that end, we compensate all creators fairly for their amazing work. Content prices range widely depending on the type of creator and other factors we’ve talked about, including license type, audience size, and term length.
Our Social organic (non-paid) is usually the lowest cost starting at ~$200 per asset, and then goes up from there to ~ $5,000 for an asset used for All-media, Unlimited audience size, and Worldwide, with a one year term.
How Do I Learn More?
We encourage you to get started with your own collection and start collaborating with your team on a specific project. Of course, you can lean on our curators, who will guide you based on the brief and budget, but it’s now easier than ever to find amazing assets that spark creative concepts by just digging inside the creator community galleries using the new AI powered search.
Once you’re ready to license, set up your usage details as outlined and then request use from an asset in your collection. We’re always here to help and answer questions. If you’d like to speak with one of our licensing and creative experts, schedule a chat with us.

Ads & Curation - Why are they interrelated?
Jim Beam, a beloved whiskey brand, ran a TV ad in May 2024. The spot, aptly named “People are Good” focuses on humans and has little to do with the taste and attributes of the product. Instead it’s focused on the outcomes and yes, the value. In other words, bringing people together to experience life’s precious moments. As a viewer, it pulls you in, tugs at your heart-strings. It’s real and therefore believable.
